ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATIONThe Center for Avian Adoption, Rescue, and Education (CAARE) is an all-volunteer North Dakota nonprofit corporation dedicated to the shelter of, rehoming of, and education about, companion parrots. Located in West Fargo, North Dakota, CAARE has attained federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. CAARE offers shelter for, education about, and rehoming services for, companion parrots, and as a part of its operations also runs an avian warehouse store that is well-stocked with parrot food toys, cages, stands, and various other parrot supplies, and provides parrot-related services. Day-to-day operations of the shelter are dependent upon the assistance of volunteers, yearly membership fees (optional), parrot adoption fees, sales generated by our avian warehouse store, and of new and used parrot cages, cage accessories, parrot food, and parrot toys, services rendered, and occasional donations received. Shoppers in our avian warehouse store will be surprised by the reasonable prices they will find, but, as an all-volunteer organization, the overhead is less than found in the retail sector. In addition, those shoppers who help fund our organization with yearly membership fees are entitled to an extra 15% off purchases of parrot food and toys. CAARE also provides services such as wing clipping, nail trimming, beak trimming (at our discretion), as well as full spa treatment including wing trimming, nail trimming, and bathing. CAARE also offers both short and long-term parrot boarding. Education on the appropriate care of companion parrots is a part of our mission, not only for those adopting a parrot from our shelter, but for those having a like interest in companion parrots.
